We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Montemar Hotel. The staff were pleasant and courteous and very helpful. The location is excellent as itŽs just outside the bustling centre away from the noise but just a five minute walk away from all the amenities in the area.
The Dona Ana beach is approximately 500 meters away and its excellent to get to a lovely beach without having to drive or take any sort of transport. The Portuguese have a wonderful reputation for their hospitality and we have truly appreciated the positive energy during our vacation.
The hotel does need a facelift however, itŽs excellent value for money with a basic yet good breakfast selection. The local bread is lovely with the cheese and even the coffee machine which I was initially doubtful of turned out to be ok. Some fresh fruit would be great and IŽm sure it wouldnŽt break the bank. The hotel room was very clean however the facilities are old and the mattresses are not the best in the world. We managed to park in the hotel carpark every night except for one where the carpark was full however, there are two free public car parks nearby where you can leave you car.
I would recommend you visit the lovely beaches around the Algarve, rent a car if you can as some places are only accessible by personal transport.

The staff here were very friendly and helpful when needed. The breakfast that is included is good and you can make rolls to take with you if you are heading out for the whole day without food stops. The room was a decent size and very clean.
My only complaints were that you could only use the wi-fi in the lobby which was often full of other guests, and that my door was damaged and didn\'t open properly and often resulted in frustrations and having to get staff to get me into my room. - -Impresiones del hotel MontemarAngel - Dec 3, 2010
